Specification: Timber Canopies, carports, pergolas and verandahs

Specification for structural members for doubly pitched carports, pergolas and verandahs. It covers spans of 4.8m, 5.4m, 6m, 6,6m and 7.2m for wind classification N2,  and timber grade F7. The collar-tied rafters are at 1000mm spacing.

It extends on the Timber Development Association (TDA) Construction and Design Guide for Carports, Pergolas and Verandahs, which has a maximum span of 4.2m, with the rafters at 1200mm spacing. If seeking development approval then the TDA guide will generally lead to faster approvals, as it is typically held by councils and considered an approved document. {We are not associated with the TDA}

Builders and plan drafters seeking to  use this document on a regular basis, should consider getting it independently certified, in which case will need the design guide and calculations. Individuals seeking development approval will need to get their project documentation certified, by obtaining a Certificate of Structural Adequacy.
